Vol. 1 No. 1. Collector's Issue. An attempt by the publisher to relaunch Black Mask fiction in a brand new series, but the series never went beyond the first issue. The "Exact Reproduction" label seen on the cover is misleading. This is not an exact reproduction of any particular previous Black Mask issue; it only 'reproduces' fiction from the original series. Reprints include: A Columbo story, "Donovan's Brain", by Curt Siodmak, "Women, Politics, and Murder" by Dashiell Hammett, "Gone Girl" by Ross MacDonald, "Scotty Scouts Around" by Raoul Whitfield, "The Magician Murder" by Ramon Decolta, and "Abominable" by Fredric Brown. Also includes an interview with pulp cover artist Rafael DeSoto among other features. Softcover digest, 6 1/2-in. x 9 1/4-in., 96 pages, newsprint, black and white text with illustrations.
