Synopsis A man learns that the 13th floor of an office building is...death. He has a weak heart but his wife is sickly and he begs to be sent back in order to care for her. Death tells him that this is most irregular and that they went to a lot of trouble to bring him to the 13th floor this evening, but if he insists on going back, he must accept another 30 years of life. The man gratefully agrees and gets back into the elevator to leave the 13th floor. When he exits, he sees his ill wife getting into the neighboring elevator and riding it up to the 13th floor. He realizes his wife was destined to die this evening and that Death was trying to keep them together. Since he insisted on living, he must spend 30 years without his wife.
