Published after Crisis on Infinite Earths, John Byrne's The Man of Steel mini-series updated the saga of Superman for modern audiences. His origin was altered, as were many other aspects of the character. Superman's relations with Lois Lane, Lex Luthor, and Batman are reexamined and tweaked.
This issue does not feature a cover gallery and introduction by legendary author Ray Bradbury as the regular, book store and comic shop trade paperbacks do. It does, however, include the covers on each comic as they were originally published and sold.

NOTE: This edition has a different cover than the DC Comics edition. This is not a second printing.

Based in Metropolis, The National Whisper is America's leading tabloid. Printing all sorts of stories, with most of them leaning to the absurd, The National Whisper has run afoul of the Man of Steel on occasion.
