Panels #1 begins with a Will Eisner Spirit cover, and features: Will Eisner, in an 18 page reminiscence, discusses his formative years, his aspirations, the days of the comic book "shops" in the forties, the artists he worked with, and his creation of the Spirit; extensively illustrated with rare Eisner art. Also in this issue, Jules Feiffer talks candidly about his apprenticeship to Eisner, and discusses many of specific Spirit stories and his own comic strip, Clifford.
