Written by Kevin J. Anderson. Art by Dario Carrasco, Jr., Mark G. Heike, Bill Black and David Jacob Beckett. Cover by Russell Walks. Navigators and explorers are a special breed -- they blaze the paths others will follow. They must have strength, drive, and hope, and be more than a little fearless. But nowhere is it written that they must have luck. Gav and Jori Daragon make their living charting the routes of hyperspace and selling those routes to traders and haulers. When a starswarm cluster batters their ship, they land on the planet Cinnagar, destitue and forlorn, and convince the relatively amiable Aarrba the Hutt to make the necessary repairs. 32 pages, FC. • Issue #1
    Golden Age (1993) 1

They were the greatest heroes of their age, "An age of gold and virgin wonder. When no crook, or spy or saboteur felt safe." Featuring a gold foil logo on the cover of each issue, THE GOLDEN AGE is a 4-issue Elseworlds miniseries set during the start of one of the darkest periods of U.S. history: the infamous "McCarthy Era." THE GOLDEN AGE takes a thought-provoking look at what might have happened to DC's first generation of super-heroes beyond their exploits during the Second World War, when paranoia has taken a chokehold on America and DC's first generation of super-heroes is driven into retirement or hiding, or madness - except for a few who are willing to change with the times. And behind the scenes, something even more sinister is unfolding - a subtle plot that may engulf the planet and remake it in one man's image. Written by James Robinson, with art and gold foil-embossed cover by Paul Smith, and colors by Richard Ory. Prestige Format. Cover price $4.95.

Volume 1 - 1st printing. "1944 to Spring 1946!" Collects The Spirit (1944-1950 Quality) #1-4. Cover by Lou Fine. Featuring Stories by Lou Fine and Will Eisner. The Spirit is a fictional masked crime fighter created by cartoonist Will Eisner, who fights crime with the blessing of the city's police commissioner Dolan, an old friend. Despite the Spirit's origin as detective/criminologist Denny Colt, his real identity was rarely referred to after his first appearance, and for all intents and purposes he was simply "The Spirit." The stories are presented in a wide variety of styles, from straight forward crime drama and noir to lighthearted adventure, from mystery and horror to comedy and love stories, often with hybrid elements that twisted genre and reader expectations. Quality Comics was an American comic book publishing company that operated from 1937 to 1956 and was largely influential in creating the Golden Age of comic books. From 1940-1950, printer Everett M. "Busy" Arnold reprinted Eisner's Spirit stories under his Quality Comics banner. Comic book stories from the 1940s and 1950s may depict some ethnic and racial prejudices that were once commonplace in American culture. Such depictions were wrong then and are wrong today. While not representing the publisher's view of today's society, these stories are printed as they were originally created, because to do otherwise would be the same as claiming these prejudices never existed. Softcover, 208 pages, full color. Cover price $32.99.
