As part of Marvel's relaunching of the Spider-Man titles in late 1998, the Sensational Spider-Man (1996 1st series) series was cancelled and essentially replaced by the Spider-Man Chapter One (1999) series. This issue features a gatefold cover recapping the previous events in the Gathering of Five storyline.
