Selling Pre-1962 Comics
We pay up to 100% of the Overstreet Price Guide price for your 1961 and older comics ($0.10 cover prices in most cases). We are always ready to buy these older comics, so if you've found some in a garage, basement or attic, or if you're a collector wanting to sell your Golden Age and Silver Age comics, then call (817) 860-7827 or email us at buytrade@mycomicshop.com.
Many pre-1962 comics (10c cover prices in most cases), especially if they are still in excellent condition, can be very valuable. Even lower grade copies, although more common, can likewise be well worth the effort required to sell them. Our aim is to make the selling process as easy and quick as possible for you, even if you don't know the first thing about comics or collecting.
Please note that the most common grade for pre-1962 comics is VG (very good) or less. VG copies show evidence of handling and some wear, with GD (good), FR (fair) and PR (poor) copies showing progressively more wear and defects. Mint copies (like new in every detail), are extremely rare, with NM (near mint), VF (very fine), and FN (fine) copies easier to find than mint, but still far less common than grades VG and lower. We pay premiums for higher grade copies. Please review our Grading Standards for more information regarding grading.
Our pre-1962 buying procedures are simple: We cannot determine the final value of your comics until they are graded. And we cannot grade your comics until we see them. However, you may if you wish, call us and describe you lot (number of comics, age range, genre, description of average condition). Call Buddy Saunders at (817) 860-7827 and say you'd like an estimate on a pre-1962 comic lot. If you find Buddy's offer estimate satisfactory, you can send your comics to us for actual grading. You will then receive a firm offer based on actual grades. If you accept our offer/grading results, we will immediately pay you for your comics, plus pay your original shipping cost. If you are not pleased with our offer/grading, we will immediately return your comics to you at our expense, well-packed and insured against loss or damage.
Your only risk in sending your comics to us is that of loss or damage in transit. We therefore recommend that you pack your comics carefully (see our packing tips in "Complete terms and Frequently Asked Questions"), insure your parcel, and request "delivery confirmation" service if shipping by the post office.
The address to ship your comics to is:
Lone Star Comics
Option #1A
511 East Abram St.
Arlington, TX 76010
We are honest, reliable, and we process and pay quickly. Typically, once received at our office, small lots are graded within two to four business days and a cash offer is then submitted to you for your consideration. Larger lots, requiring additional grading and evaluation, may take up to seven business days. Payment for lots is made by Chase Bank check within one business day of your acceptance of our offer. Mycomicshop.com's parent company, Lone Star Comics, Inc., has been in business since 1977 and currently has seven retail stores in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Our owner, Buddy Saunders, has been selling and collecting comics since 1961. We are also a member in good standing with the Better Business Bureau.
Again, we'll make the selling process easy for you, and you can be sure you'll get the best price possible.
