United's anthology featured reprints of early comic strips, including Tarzan, Captain and the Kids and Nancy. The new format that started with issue #84 allows for larger reprints of Raeburn van Buren's detailed art on "Abbie an' Slats." Tarzan is captured by Mummy-men of Tula, vampire goddess of Or-Nak, in a Tarzan strip with art by Burne Hogarth. Slats gets a job as driver for a female writer touring the country. But when they encounter escaped convict Annie Doakley, Annie trades places with the writer to make her getaway. Dink O'Day hits some jaw-dropping fly balls while visiting the Mohawks baseball team in their Latin American training camp.
