Direct Edition. Rise of the Midnight Sons: Part 1 of 6 - " Visions!" Guest-starring Doctor Strange. Written by Howard Mackie. Art by Andy Kubert and Joe Kubert. Ghost Rider captures two criminals who murdered an elderly woman and deposits them in the mausoleum where he has kept Blackout, Stern, and dozens of other criminals captive. At the Ketch house, Stacy and Gerard Dolan console Francis Ketch over Dan's disappearance. Dolan then gets a call that the police are about to arrest Ghost Rider and leaves to assist. At the cemetery, a man calling himself the Caretaker greets Johnny Blaze and Ghost Rider and tells them the police have surrounded the cemetery. Ghost Rider opens the mausoleum to find all of his captives dead, and, within the void, Dan's spirit experiences a vision given to him by Lilith of an assemblage of supernatural heroes. Blackout and Stern emerge from the crypt and Blackout bites Ghost Rider, causing to experience Lilith's vision as well. Blackout realizes Lilith is his mother and vows to find her. Blackout and Stern flee the mausoleum amidst police gunfire. Michael Badilino, the officer in charge, enters the mausoleum to arrest Ghost Rider, but Caretaker hits him with a shovel and leads Ghost Rider and Blaze through underground tunnels to an unoccupied section of the cemetery. Blackout attempts to flee on a bike Blaze stored in the cemetery, but flees on foot when Blaze sets the bike ablaze hellfire. Blaze, on the flaming bike, and Ghost Rider leave to meet with the Quentin Carnival in Rhode Island, and Caretaker asks the arriving Doctor Strange if he believes he can defeat Lilith. Meanwhile, after an unsuccessful battle against the Midnight Sons in Boston, the demon Lilith orders her offspring Portal to teleport her and her Lilin children to Greenland, and the remains of the Leviathan within which Atlantean sorcerers trapped her for millennia. Once there, Lilith begins a spell to return the rest of her long-lost Lilin to earth. Having detected her actions, Dr. strange gathers the Midnight Sons, teleporting them to the Leviathan site. As they attacked the Lilin, Lilith opens in interdimensional rift in her own body, and reaches in, snatching Dan sold from the void and pulling it to Earth, transformed into a monstrous Lilin. Filled with battle lust, he attacks both sides until Ghost Rider restrains him, then throws him back through the rift. The Midnight Sons slay almost all the Lilin, and Ghost Rider forcibly folds Lilith into her own body's rift, causing her to seemingly explode. After the Sons depart, the sole surviving Lilin, Nakota, emerges from the snow; Lilith appears, and needing sustenance to restore herself, devours her child, vowing the Lilin will be reborn and destroy the Midnight Sons. 32 pages, FC. "Transformations in Pain!" Guest starring Daredevil. Written by Howard Mackie. Art by Bret Blevins and Fred Fredericks. The demonic succubus visits Henry Bronson, sleeping in a Hell's Kitchen homeless shelter, feeding off his life force as a prelude to targeting ghost rider. His dying agonies wake the next beds resident, Calvin Zabo, who rants about killing everyone when he becomes Mr. Hyde again. Meanwhile, in Caretaker's basement Dan and Caretaker watch Suicide's skeleton healing. Dan leaves to head home, but is attacked outside by Succubus; transforming into Ghost Rider, he drives her off, then changes back to Dan. No longer sure what triggers his changes, or who attacked him, and suspecting Caretaker might know, he turns to go back inside, but the basement doorway has vanished. At that moment a weakened Succubus tries to drain a derelict outside the shelter, but Daredevil intervenes. She flees inside, choosing to feed off the Zabo instead, inadvertently triggering his change in to Hyde, and he throws her out the window. Witnessing this, Daredevil scoops up the stunt Succubus and flees, with Hyde pursuing. Dan spots the running battle, but it struck by flying debris, and when Hyde turns his attention towards the fallen biker, Daredevil drop Succubus to defend Dan. As Hyde and Daredevil clash, Succubus attacks Dan, who changes back and forth to Ghost Rider as she drains him. Leaping away from Hyde, Daredevil targets Succubus, and when Hyde tries to attack them both, Ghost Rider intercepts; unfazed by Hyde's blows, Ghost Rider ends the bout with his penance stare, then becomes Dan again. Daredevil stuns Succubus, and helps Dan escape as the police arrive. As the cops close in, Succubus drains Hyde's energy, insisting that Ghost Rider must belong to her master, Nightmare. 32 pages, FC. Cover price $1.75.
