Notes | Two covers were initially done for this issue; both by Ian Churchill and Michael Turner (50/50 percent mixture). This issue went on sale 2006-02-22. A second printing came out a month later. This issue's content was originally solicited to be contained in issues #5 and #6, but with a combination of factors including the death of the author's son, the overall lateness of the book, and the desire to start the One Year Later storyline concurrent with the other DC titles, the decision was made to combine those issues into #5 with an expanded page count. This was announced via press release on 2006-02-07. |

Characters | Supergirl [Kara Zor-El]; Dark Supergirl; Zor-El (intro, flashback); Darkseid (cameo; flashback); Lex Luthor (cameo, flashback); Green Lantern [John Stewart]; Hawkman; Black Canary; Flash [Wally West]; Martian Manhunter; Batman; Superman; Wonder Woman |
Synopsis | Dark Supergirl flashes back to just before Kara left Krypton, where her father tells her that she is to seek out the baby Kal-El and kill him. She is then "made innocent" to assimilate better, but her "true" self emerged under Darkseid. Supergirl says Dark Supergirl is lying. They fight. The JLA confronts them, and Dark Supergirl flies off. Supergirl tells the JLA to warn "him", and then catches up. They wrestle some more, and end up in Gotham Harbor, where Batman is waiting. After more fighting, Superman and Wonder Woman also show up. After more fighting, Supergirl finally asks both of the Supergirls be bound by Wonder Woman's lasso, and is asked "Who is Kara Zor-El?" After an explosion, both are merged again, into "Supergirl" (she wants to be known as that and not Kara Zor-El). |
