Synopsis While exploring a cave, Scott Martin discovers the underground city of Shanzar. Imprisoned by Tyrnos, he and the deposed king Zarkon escape. Using superior will-power, Martin gains control of the Ko-Dan crystal from Tyrnos, overthrows him, and after restoring Zarkon and his daughter Areel to power, returns to the surface with the Ko-Dan, becoming "The Beacon" to rid the world of greed, ignorance and injustice.

Synopsis Alan Laurel & Margaret Silver discover that Kr'Wallian invaders, who can change their appearance and size, have been kidnapping and brainwashing public leaders. Using their own equipment against them, Alan frees Mayor Hughes and destroys their size-changing machine, sending the invaders packing. Now trapped at the height of six inches, Alan decides to fight crime as "The Hummingbird".
