Synopsis Morbius feasts on and then befriends a young thug he has turned into a vampire; When Morbius heads to the ESU campus to consult with professor Hans Jorgenson about his condition, Jefferson secretly follows; Spidey begins to suffer from debilitating headaches and heads to ESU to see if Jorgenson can pinpoint the cause; Morbius' fiance contacts the Fantastic Four and tells the team the fate of her vampiric boyfriend; The Torch flies off to ESU to consult with Jorgenson about the problem; As all parties converge, Spidey and the Torch encounter Morbius who has just killed a drunken bum; During the ensuing battle, Jefferson attempts to help Morbius fight the heroes but, when Morbius tries to feed from his brother Jake who is a student at ESU, Jefferson attacks his mentor and is killed; Morbius flies off and Spidey and the Torch are unable to follow.

Synopsis Aunt May is recovering from a serious operation and Peter decides to lay his role of Spidey aside lest he die in battle and leave her all alone in the world; This has already caused him to flee from a battle with the Green Goblin which Daily Bugle publisher Jameson uses to brand Spidey a coward in the press; With the whole world thinking him a spineless flake, Peter can't even use his popularity as Spider-Man to make money to pay for Aunt May's medicine; Things get even worse when Spidey has a chance encounter with Sandman and he runs away from that fight as well, cementing his reputation as yellow; This does not sit well with the last true Spider fan, Flash Thompson, who dresses up as Spidey and gets beat up trying to collar some car thieves; Just as he decides to give up being Spider-Man for good, Aunt May recovers enough so that Peter realizes she has the spunk to survive anything on her own; Peter dons his Spidey duds and swears he is going to get his rep back.
