It is 1891 and Gambit is sailing to New York with the Courier and Jean-Luc LeBeau (his father as a ten year old child); They are racing Gambit's grandfather, Jacques, and his Thieves Guild who are trying to find Nathanial Essex, the future Mr. Sinister, for their benefactress, Candra; As Essex, under the name of Milbury, has set himself up as a gynecologist, Gambit has Jacob transform into a woman and go for an appointment; Essex quickly realizes that there is something different about the Courier's genetics and injects her with a serum that causes her to turn into a puddle of goo; Gambit contacts Amanda Mueller in order to track down Essex but arrives too late as the Thieves Guild has already come and gone after making a deal with the sinister doctor. |
