Synopsis Angry at the destruction of the Green Goblin's journals, Hobgoblin has blown up his lair and escaped in his battle van as Spidey tries to recover from the blast; Spider-Man hitches a ride and makes his way into the van to battle his foe; During the fight, his spider sense kicks back in and he begins to handily beat Hobby up; The van crashes into the Hudson River and explodes as Spider-Man barely escapes with his life; Spidey dives down to try and save Hobgoblin but is only able to find his mask; Spider-Man arrives at the Bugle to tell Jonah that the blackmail threat is over but discovers that JJJ has already printed his crime (the creation of the Scorpion) on the front page of the paper; Jonah has turned the reins of editor-in-chief over to Robbie and will solely function as the Bugle's publisher; Peter tells Harry that his father's journals were destroyed and he has nothing more to fear from the Hobgoblin; Peter's spider sense goes wild and Spidey swings into Central Park to find a giant alien complex that he feels compelled to enter; Spidey is off to the Secret Wars.
