22 page Green Hornet story "Bloodlines"

Characters Kato III [Mishi Kato]; Green Hornet IV [Paul Reid]; Desmaines; Assorted Devane thugs; Britt Reid II; Hayashi Kato; Lenore C. Reid; Diana Reid; Angela Devane (killed in this story); David Devane (killed in this story); Even more assorted Devane thugs, including Frank and Ricky; Joey (Blackjack) Devane (flashback cameo only)
Synopsis Thanks to the timely appearance of the newest Kato, the equally new Green Hornet is saved, the Devane operation is exposed, and its direct participants arrested. A conference among Reids and Katos at the Tower leads to a suspicion. Meanwhile, the Devanes lay another trap for the Reids/Hornets. However, two carloads of Devane thugs heading to Reid Tower are intercepted by the Black Beauty and quickly neutralized. The Hornet and Kato then invade the Devane estate. In a personal confrontation, Angela admits to the masked avengers that SHE killed her father, because "The blithering idiot...was going to leave the business to that moronic brother of mine." Unfortunately (for her), that sibling overhears and kills her with his bare hands, but not before she manages to pull a handgun and mortally wound him. The family secret is again secure.
Genre Crime; super-hero
Script Ron Fortier
Pencils Jeff Butler

Colors Suzanne Dechnik; Holly San-Gorro
Letters Pat [Patrick] Williams
Notes 1: The synopsis concludes as it does because that is the story's clear intent; however, pages 12 & 13 show Angela and Davey Devane talking openly of the Hornet/Reid situation in front of henchmen Frank and Ricky, and nothing happens to permanently silence either of them. 2: The concept that the Green Hornet's masked associate is publicly known as Kato was, prior to this comic series, a misinterpretation; it was the character's real, personal name, and while he was masked as the "Hornet's man" he had no actual name; NOW's version incorrectly makes this error the "fact" of the matter, and first explicitly states it in this story--Mishi to Paul, pg. 7, panel 2: "While I'm in this funky get-up, call me Kato. It's part of the tradition." 3: Is this story's co-colorist Holly San-Gorro the same person as frequent NOW colorist Holly Sanfelippo (who has been included in the last-interior-page feature's staff list since #4)?
Reprinted in "Green Hornet, The" (hardback book), NOW Comics and Bonus Books, 1990.

2 page The Buzz Word letters page

Characters Green Hornet IV; Kato III
Synopsis Letters from Sheldon A. Wiebe, Mikel G. Burton, Edward Leveills, Mario Havel, Bob Benner and Kevin Finnerty, with editorial responses.
Script Diane Piron
Pencils Jeff Butler
Inks David Mowry
Letters Typeset
Notes 1: Wiebe asks what the title for the main story in #4 was, and Piron gives it, saying "it got lost in translation somewhere," as if it had been a single, isolated incident; in reality, that was the third consecutive issue wherein the main story had no title. 2: The comic panels reproduced on these pages have been recolored for this presentation, and otherwise the entire feature has a lime green background.
Reprinted Panel 3, page 4 and panel 3, page 5, from this issue's Sequence 1 (in color).

1 page NOW Newsflash promo (ad from the publisher)

Notes The entire page has a dull blue background; this feature appeared on the last interior page of most NOW releases of this cover date.
