In Washington D.C., a new day dawns as Jack Hawksmoor – the acting director of StormWatch – hurries to meet with John Grobard, the new Special Security Advisor to the President of the United States. However, as he rides with his chauffeur and bodyguard, Roxanne Spaulding, Hawksmoor notices a strange footnote in his mornings intelligence briefings. Apparently, a strange anomaly has been detected in the Arizona desert, a peculiar mystery which prompts Hawksmoor to dispatch a field team (led by Cole Cash a.k.a. the Grifter) to investigate. Soon after, a shocking discovery is made, and the anomaly is revealed to be an extraterrestrial pylon jutting forth from the ground.
