The story picks up after the epic events of Marvel Super-Heroes Secret Wars (1984) #12. Spider-Man and Dr. Curt Connors (the Lizard) return home from Battleword, soon followed by the rest of the Marvel heroes, and Spidey is decked out in his new BLACK costume. As the days pass, Spider-Man soon discovers there is more to his new costume than he at first realized. It's actually an alien symbiote that can regenerate damaged portions of itself and augments Spidey's already considerable abilities.
This collection also features the 1st appearance of Puma, the villainy of the Rose and Hobgoblin, and the sleek and sexy Black Cat.
