Donald Duck's Atom Bomb (#Y1 1947) is the rarest of the Cheerios Premiums. Features Carl Barks art. Due to the atomic bomb theme, Disney will never reprint the Atom Bomb story as presented here in the original, non-censored version. Donald had "got a way picked out to make money - and lots of it!" by selling an "atomic hair-grower" at $1.00 per bottle. A cash register and money in a customer's hand is depicted. In the censored version, Donald has "more than money in mind" and gives away free samples of a normal hair-grower. The word "atomic" is removed from the board, but most noticeable are the cash register being replaced for a pyramid of bottles and the people in the queue having combs in their hands instead of dollar bills. Appearances by: Donald Duck, Huey Dewey and Louie, Professor Mollicule, and Professor Sleezy. Cheerios 1947, 32-page, full color, newsprint promotional comic, 6-7/8 x 3-1/8, Issue #Y1. 32 pages.

The Flop Family, a 1947 King Features Syndicate brochure featuring the Flop Family, a humorous family-themed newspaper comic strip created and illustrated by Swan (George Swanson 1897-1981, creator of the Flop Family and Salesman Sam). Includes eight daily strips from 1947, each 8.25-in. x 2.5-in. Promotional brochures were created to introduce newspaper editors to comics and features that were not yet in their papers. 4 pages, 9-in. x 12-in. From the brochure: "There's no need to analyze the Flop Family. You just look and laugh and look for it again tomorrow and laugh some more. A 'Merry Medley' we called it on the front cover--and a merry medley it is. A merry medley of the hundred and one things husbands and wives argue about, of all the foolish things kids do--for which you want to slap them, but love them just the same. The Flop Family is HOME--your home and every reader's home. It is America in shirt sleeves and house dresses. Wherever the Flop Family appears, its fans say--'That's us!' No wonder it is becoming more popular every day! If your readers like to laugh and see the funny side of what may seem very serious to them--give them the Flop Family."
