Nearly two decades from now, the United States of America are no more. Instead, the North American continent is run by a provisional government implemented by the man-made mutant hunters called Sentinels. The once-respected espionage agency, S.H.I.E.L.D., has become no more than a gestapo run by a man who was once among the country's greatest enemies.
