"From the Ashes of Defeat - !", script by Stan Lee, pencils by Don Heck, inks by Dick Ayers; Kang's troops advance on the city as Kang escapes; Although hopeless, the Avengers decide to put up a fight against the never-ending army; Quicksilver is put out of action by a stray blast while trying to help a mother and child; The rest of the Avengers battle on but are eventually overwhelmed and captured; Although Kang's law states that monarchs conquered are to be executed, Kang wants to marry Ravonna; Meanwhile, Quicksilver is nursed back to health by the mother he saved; The rest of the generals led by Baltag rebel against Kang and try to assassinate him; Kang is then forced to team up with Captain America, Hawkeye and the Scarlet Witch to save Ravonna and liberate her civilization. Dr. Doom!", script by Stan Lee, pencils by Don Heck, inks by Dick Ayers; Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver recieve a letter from their Aunt in Latveria and decide to visit her; When they arrive they are jailed and discover it is a trap set up by Doctor Doom, who decides defeating the Avengers will instill fear in to the Fantastic Four,making them easy to defeat; The Fantastic Four attempt to assist the Avengers, but are not allowed, as interference could spark an international incident; Nevertheless, the Avengers escape and fight Doom to a standstill, where he causes a diversion and escapes. Giant-Man becomes Goliath and, along with the Wasp, rejoins the Avengers in "Among Us Walks... a Goliath!", script by Stan Lee, art by Don Heck; Henry Pym calls the Avengers, saying the Wasp is missing, and that he is Giant-Man; The Wasp has been captured by the Collector and the Beetle; Giant-Man renames himself Goliath; They enter the Collector's lair and get separated and captured; Goliath escapes and frees the other Avengers; They rescue the Wasp and force the Collector to escape with the Beetle using a time machine; However, when Goliath tries to shrink down to his normal size he collapses and faints at 10 feet tall; First appearance of The Collector. "Never Bug a Giant!", script by Stan Lee, pencils by Don Heck, inks by Frank Giacoia; Captain America, The Wasp and Hawkeye leave for South America to help Goliath; Meanwhile, Quicksilver and the Scarlet Witch realise how badly they like being Avengers and hope their powers return soon; Goliath and Prince Rey escape to Prince Rey's rebel hideout; He explains how the Keeper controls a powerful cobalt flame, capable of destroying the world; Goliath realizes Prince Rey only wants the flame for his own desires and leaves him; Goliath attacks the Keeper and gets captured; The other Avengers attack and also get captured with the exception of the Wasp; Prince Rey's forces attack the Keeper's, while at the same time, the Wasp frees all the Avengers; Hawkeye smothers the flame with explosive arrows, destroying it. Quicksilver and the Scarlet Witch discover they will regain their full powers; Bill Foster, being African-American, gets attacked by the Sons of the Serpent; Captain America goes to Nick Fury for more information about them; The Avengers vow to defeat the Sons of the Serpent, but Captain America is kidnapped. The Living Laser creates a huge powerful laser cannon and decides to save Costa Verde from dictatorship for fame and money; The Avengers attack the Living Laser but they are defeated by the Laser's huge cannon and captured; Goliath escapes by dangerously willing himself to shrink even though it is unsafe, and sabotages the Laser's cannon; It explodes and defeats the Laser.
