It turns out the Living Laser cyborg was powered by a crystal processed from rock found only on the Blue Area of the Moon; Mar-Vell wants to head to the Moon immediately to investigate, but Rick convinces him to at least let him clear an absence with his manager and singing partner first; Rick goes to promise Boggs that he'll be back by Thursday, but before he leaves, Dandy offers him a pill of "Vitamin C" in case things "get boring"; Rick is dubious of the pill, but holds onto it; After stopping by Avengers Mansion to get Rick a space suit based on Iron Man's armor, Captain Marvel begins a ten-hour flight to the Moon; Not long after leaving Earth's atmosphere, Captain Marvel is attacked by another agent of the Lunatic Legion, calling himself Nimrod, the Hunter; Mar-Vell makes short work of the attacker, identifying him as a robot and breaking him into pieces before continuing on. 36 pgs., full color. "No Way Out!", script by Steve Englehart (co-plot, script) and Al Milgrom (co-plot), pencils by Al Milgrom, inks by Klaus Janson; The Lunatic Legion introduce themselves to the captive Mar-Vell, though in his delirious state he's barely aware of them; They are a group of blue-skinned Kree opposed to their race's intermixing with other species that produced the pink-skinned offshoot and to the Supreme Intelligence that fostered Kree culture away from their conservative ideals; They want to execute Mar-Vell, distrusting him as a pink Kree with mutated powers stationed near their Blue Area outpost; Before that happens, Mar-Vell recovers from Rick's drug-induced trip finding that the mind-expanding effects of the drug have combined with his Cosmic Awareness to make him even more fluid and alert; On top of that, Rick's and Mar-Vell's minds have merged more completely, which they find beneficial in doubling their mental power and allowing them to switch seamlessly even without the Nega-Bands; Together as Captain Marvel, they easily defeat the Lunatic Legion. 36 pgs., full color. Cover art by Al Milgrom. "Havoc On Homeworld!", script by Steve Englehart (plot; script) and Al Milgrom (plot), pencils by Al Milgrom, inks by Bernie Wrightson (page 3 figure; page 6 figures); P. Craig Russell (page 2 left tier; pages 7; 10-11; 15; 17; 27; top of 31 and face in panel 7); Bob McLeod (pages 14; 18); Terry Austin (backgrounds pages 2-6; bottom of 31); and Al Milgrom (pages 1; 16; 22-26); Captain Marvel, merged with Rick Jones, returns to Hala to report to the Supreme Intelligence about the Lunatic Legion; They're surprised and confused to find the Lunatic Legion waiting for them there to fight them at the Supreme Intelligence's behest; After Captain Marvel easily defeats them, the Supreme Intelligence praises him, revealing that everything Mar-Vell has experienced since first being assigned to Earth has been part of an elaborate plan to create a perfect opponent for himself in a battle that will either award him the mind of Rick Jones and its dormant ultimate power or else put the final nail in the coffin of the Kree's evolutionary dead-end; Mar-Vell isn't interested in playing the game, but the revelation that his leader might have orchestrated Una's death as part of his schemes sends him into a rage; The Supreme Intelligence counters the attack by separating Mar-Vell from Rick Jones in a way that leaves each of them with one of the Nega-Bands and summons Ronan the Accuser, the once traitor now under the Supreme Intelligence's control, to attack them. Letter to the editor from Dean Mullaney (Eclipse Comics). The letters page also contains Marvel Value Stamp series A # 2 (Hulk). 36 pgs., full color. Cover price $0.25.
