"The Death of the Flash," script by Bob Haney, pencils by Carmine Infantino, inks by Charles Paris; A series of robberies committed by a group of super-fast thieves called the Speed Boys have been plaguing both Gotham and Central City, drawing the attention of both Batman and the Flash; Although struck with a fatal illness that gets worse every time he runs, the Flash teams up with the Caped Crusader to try and stop the super-fast crooks; However, just before the Flash can nab any of them his sickness gets the best of him and the crooks get away; During one robbery, Batman and the Flash manage to capture one of the Speed Boys and Batman takes his shoes to analyze while the Flash goes after the rest of the group; However, Flash finally succumbs to his illness and is taken by the Speed Boys who show off the Flash's supposedly dead body on TV. Jay Jaye, the biggest promoter in Gotham City to help him fix the competition so that Tallwolf wins; When the Promoter provides Tallwolf with the means to victory and Tallwolf is made chief of the Kijowas, Jaye orders Tallwolf to summon the Thunderbird, a powerful bird that can only be summoned by the Cheif of the Kijowas, so that Jaye can exploit the bird for his own personal gain; However, the Thunderbird proves too much to handle, and Batman and Green Arrow arrive to stop the creature. Rock; Batman and Rock then team up to track down Hitler, although the two manage to destroy his operations, Hitler manages to make his escape, much to Rock's frustration. "Death by the Ounce," script by Bob Haney, art by Jim Aparo; When the Shah of Karkan (an oil-rich ruler of a Mideastern Country) is coming to Gotham City to discuss oil trade agreements, Gotham police and Batman are called out for security because the Shah may become a target of Communist nations that are against the United States; While searching the area for any suspicious activity, the caped-crusader runs into his old ally Mister Miracle, who has just recently returned from New Genesis because he missed the fame of being an escape artist on Earth; After watching Miracle beat Houdini's record of being underwater with no breath, Batman realizes he's running late and departs. "The Claws of the Emperor Eagle," script by Bob Haney, art by Jim Aparo; On his deathbed, ruined millionaire Victor Lasher sells the Emperor Eagle to Oliver Queen; Afterwards, the deed is attempted to be stolen by someone, however Queen stops the theft; Running into Batman, he tells the caped crusader the legends of the Emperor Eagle: That it was forged 2,000 years ago and was owned by powerful men: Alexander the Great, Napoleon Bonaparte even Adolf Hitler; Because these men met with epic failure while possessing the Emperor Eagle, the bird statue was considered to be cursed; Batman wonders why Oliver could want it, and all Oliver can tell him is that he wants to own the one thing that has defeated so many powerful men in history and conquer the legend; The next day, Oliver takes a flight to England to pick up the statue from Lasher's castle; On his way back to the States however, along the way by airplane, the plane is hijacked by the Joker and Two-Face; This forces Oliver to change into the Green Arrow. 36 Pages, Full Color.
