Stories and art by Henry Kiefer and others. Violent, offbeat pre-Code crime comics from D.S. Publishing Company. These early issues featured stories inspired by true crimes, such as the story of legendary Old West bank robber "Western George" Leslie. In the 1820s, two men make a business of selling corpses to medical schools, even if they have to kill them themselves. This story was based on the Burke and Hare murders, and possibly on an earlier story in issue #43 of Crime Does Not Pay (1942). James Hall confesses that he uses hitchhiking as a tool for murder, earning the name The Hitch-hike Killer. This issue was cited in the illustrations (#29, " Diagram for Housebreakers") of the famous anti-comics classic, Seduction of the Innocent. A spiteful old woman invites her family to the reading of her new will, practically inviting one of them to murder her. The Fatal Reflex, a Crime-O-Graph story about a faked suicide, features the art that later appeared in Seduction of the Innocent. Private eye Malcolm Starr is seemingly aided by a ghost while seeking the killer of a famous explorer in an old dark house.
