First printing and first appearances of Richard Parker and Mary Parker in an all-new 40-page story "The Parents of Peter Parker!" Script by Stan Lee. Pencils by Larry Lieber. Inks by Mike Esposito (aka Mickey Demeo). Consulting by John Romita (layouts). Cover by John Romita. While moving an old trunk in his Aunt's house, Peter finds pictures and newspaper clippings of his deceased parents. Apparently they were considered traitors by the U.S. government before their deaths in a plane crash in Algeria almost two decades ago. After Aunt May provides a few more details, Peter vows to uncover the truth about his parents! To that end the web-slinger links up with the Fantastic Four and flies to North Africa! In the middle of the Kasbah, the Amazing Spider-Man finally comes face-to-face with the man who framed his parents: the sinister Red Skull! Wow, can the wall-crawler exonerate his parents and change his family legacy forever? Or will the spectacular son meet the same fate as his father...at the hands of the Red Skull? A terrific story! Cameo appearances by the Human Torch, Mr. Fantastic, and the Thing. Flashback cameo by Ben Parker. (Notes: This story features the second Red Skull (aka Albert Malik). He appears many years later in Solo Avengers 6 and Captain America 347.) First backup feature: "A Day at the Daily Bugle" One-page illustration of the Daily Bugle newsroom with J. Jonah Jameson, Joe Robertson, Ned Leeds, and Betty Brant. Script by Stan Lee. Pencils by Larry Lieber. Inks by Mike Esposito. Assists by John Romita. Second backup feature: "Peter Parker, the Super Sports Star!" Two-page illustration of the web-slinger as a baseball player and football player. Third backup feature: "Where It's At" One-page drawing of Spider-Man's usual hangouts. Fourth backup feature: "This is Spidey as We Know Him, But--" Two-page illustration of other publications' characters dressed as Spider-Man. Fifth backup feature: "Here We Go-a-Plotting!" Three-page parody of the Marvel Bullpen starring Stan Lee, Larry Lieber, and John Romita. Script and Pencils by Marie Severin. Inks by Frank Giacoia. (Notes: The inside front cover features selected artwork from the story. The issue includes a full-page ad for Spectacular Spider-Man (1968) Magazine 2. A second printing of this issue was published in 1994 and only available through JC Penney stores. This story was reprinted in Marvel Tales 264 & 265.) 68 pages. 25 cent cover price.
