"From The Void Of Space Comes," script by Roy Thomas, pencils by Gene Colan, inks by Vince Colletta; Skrull emperor Dorrek VII has become aware of recent activity on Earth involving the Skrull's age old enemies the Kree, most notably the recent activation of the Kree Sentry; Seeking to find out the truth of the Kree's involvement on Earth, Dorrek calls the Super-Skrull back to the Skrull home world from his exile after his last defeat at the hands of the Fantastic Four; The Super-Skrull is ordered to find out what their enemies are up to, and kill Mar-Vell; The reward for success would be anything the Super-Skrull desired; Wanting to be married to the emperors daughter Anelle, the Super-Skrull accepts the mission and returns to Earth; There, Mar-Vell has just returned from his battle against the Sentry to find that his carrying bag has been stolen from his room. Suspecting the owner of the hotel, and fearing that tampering may have activated the self-destruct mechanism on it, Mar-Vell rushes out to find the hotel owner; The owner himself is on his way to the Cape with to turn over to the military there. 36 pgs., full color. "From the Ashes of Defeat!", script by Roy Thomas, pencils by Gene Colan and Roy Thomas (zip-a-tone effects), inks by Vince Colletta and Roy Thomas; Captain Marvel is now the prisoner of the Super-Skrull, who takes Mar-Vell aboard his ship in order to probe his mind and learn why the Kree are so interested in the planet Earth; In doing so he learns about Mar-Vell's mission and his recent battle against the Kree Sentry, his identity as Walter Lawson, and his carrying case with the self-destruct mechanism; Mar-Vell manages to break free and escape the Super-Skrull's ship and return to his own ship; There when Yon-Rogg refuses to grant Mar-Vell permission to go back to Earth and stop the Super-Skrull and save the Earth from nuclear holocaust, Mar-Vell petitions the Imperial Minister, who allows Mar-Vell to go back to Earth, more to get revenge on the Skrull who defeated him than to save Earth; Mar-Vell arrives just in time to see the Super-Skrull (disguised as Lawson) enter the Cape with the carrying case. "In the Path of Solam!", script by Arnold Drake, pencils by Don Heck, inks by John Tartaglione; While aboard the Kree ship, Mar-Vell is in a holographic training session which is cranked up to a high level by Yon-Rogg, hoping that Mar-Vell will die during the experience; However, Mar-Vell succeeds in beating the computer; After, Mar-Vell is ordered back to Earth, where his identity is almost exposed by Carol Danvers when she spots the Kree ship returning to Earth's orbit and "Lawson's" sudden appearance in the middle of the road; Later, in his guise of Lawson, Mar-Vell meets with Dr. Norman Lundquist who is displaying his Solar Amplification Light-Cannon; Examining the device, Mar-Vell realizes that the device has the potential of creating a solar energy creature (which Mar-Vell dubs "Solam"); However, when Mar-Vell decides to try and destroy the device, Yon-Rogg strikes Mar-Vell through his wrist communicator; When the device creates a Solam creature, it goes on a rampage and gets strong as it absorbs more solar energy; Changing into Captain Marvel, Mar-Vell pools the resources of the world's most powerful computers together to come up with a solution as to how to destroy Solam. "And Fear Shall Follow!", script by Arnold Drake, pencils by Don Heck, inks by Vince Colletta; When a trading vessel piloted by members of the Aakon race, they detect a Kree vessel in proximity to the planet Earth; As age old enemies of the Kree, the Aakon decide to land on the dark side of the moon to avoid detection; However, their effort proves too late and Yon-Rogg orders his men to attack the Aakon, in spite of Mar-Vell's warnings that it wouldn't be a good idea; During the battle on the Moon, Yon-Rogg is injured in combat, and Mar-Vell is forced to kill the Aakon leader in order to save his superior, and both parties flee the scene of the battle; Mar-Vell assumes temporary control of the Kree vessel while Yon-Rogg is injured, however he soon returns to Earth; On Earth, Mar-Vell decides to investigate the home of the late Walter Lawson to turn up clues about the man's past, partially for Carol Danvers, and partially for his own curiosity. "Between Hammer and Anvil!", script by Arnold Drake, pencils by Don Heck, inks by Vince Colletta; While out in his Captain Marvel guise, Mar-Vell is attacked by an Aakon attack party; After a brief battle with the Aakon, Mar-Vell manages to escape; Meanwhile, at the hotel where Mar-Vell stays as "Walter Lawson", Carol Danvers convinces Mr. Logan to admit her into "Lawson's" room. However, before she can find anything of value, the repaired Cyberex appears and takes Carol hostage, taking her back to Lawson's lab; When Mar-Vell arrives as "Lawson" he learns about Carol's kidnap and goes after Cyberex and tracks the robot back to Lawson's lab; There Mar-Vell has his hands full when the Aakon attack party also arrives; However, when Mar-Vell realizes that the Cyberex is attracted to Lawson's scent on his note book, Mar-Vell writes a Kree code number on the cover of the book, and leaves it for the Aakon to get a hold of; When the Aakon think it's a coded Kree plan, they become targets of Cyberex who kills them to get a hold of the source of Lawson's scent; Mar-Vell then manages to destroy Cyberex once and for all with his Uni-Beam to smash open the robot's housing and break its repair mechanism. 36 pgs., full color. But before he can be taken into custody, the Man-Slayer, a robot created by Communists attacks the Cape; As Mar-Vell uses his illusion casting powers to distract the soldiers to get away and change into Captain Marvel, in Russia, the Black Widow breaks into the control room of the Communist leader who is controlling the Man-Slayer in an attempt to stop the attack from its source; However, before she can stop the leader, she is knocked out. 36 pgs., full color. "When a Galaxy Beckons," script by Gary Friedrich, pencils by Frank Springer, inks by Vince Colletta; Held at gun point at the Cape for treason charges, Mar-Vel trys to figure out what to do while Carol tries to appear for Mar-Vell's release; While at the same time the Puppet Master--from his island hideout--uses one of his special puppets to take control of Iron Man, part of a plan to aid Egghead against the Avengers (See Avengers #64); Iron Man, in his civilian guise as Tony Stark is on his way to business in Miami, is controlled by the Puppet Master to change into Iron Man and leaves the plane to attack Mar-Vell; The Puppet Master manages to have Iron Man attack Mar-Vell, however the battle ends when unexpectedly when Stark's heart condition causes Stark to have a heart attack; A furious Puppet Master, not knowing why Iron Man no longer response to his command, throws his puppet at the controls causing an explosion that buries the Puppet Master under his machinery. 36 pgs., full color. While on Earth, Carol Danvers awakens in a hospital and flees FBI agents come to question her about Walter Lawson The Supreme Sentry then transports Mar-Vell to the planet Hala and brings him before the Supreme Intelligence; The Surpeme Intelligence tells Mar-Vell that he was being manipulated, and that Zo was really Zarek who was working with the Ronan the Accuser to try use Mar-Vell as a tool to overthrow the Kree empire and take over for themselves; When Zarek tries to kill the Supreme Intelligence with a Negatron Sphere, Mar-Vell shields the blast with his body and miraculously survives. 36 pgs., full color.
