Dick Tracy in "Saved in the Nick of Time" is story #1 of what was supposed to be a series of 30 Buck Jones Adventures sold only with Big Thrill Chewing Gum as an insert. However, we believe only 6 stories were actually printed. 8 pages with 3 pages in color and 5 in black and white, 2-7/8-in. x 2-3/8-in. Copyrighted in 1934 by Chester Gould and The Goudy Gum Co., Boston. (See also Buck Jones, Buck Rogers and Tailspin Tommy.)

Compliments of Drummond Tobacco Co., St. Louis, Mo. each page features an attractive color engraving. The booklet is written in rhyme, following a serial style similar to the old nursery favorite, "The House that Jack Built." It begins with Uncle Jack chewing his favorite Horse Show tobacco and continues on with the story of how it's prepared. Illustrations include a picture of Uncle Jack, a black woman by the name of "Aunt Levinny" working the field, and several of tobacco in various forms. 12 pages, full color.

#1 "Tom Mix Hits the Bar Diamond." Inside is a text story (with illustrations), "Tom Mix and Tony at Bar-Diamond Ranch, Episode 1." 2-3/8 x 2-3/4 in.; black and white; 8 pages. Promotional Tom Mix comic booklet distributed as a premium in 1934 by the National Chicle Company. These booklets were issued in a wrapper with a piece of gum and are rare in any condition.
