Reed Richards volunteers to help a comatose young boy, Willie Evans, Jr., who is suffering from cosmic radiation poisoning. However, young Willie has latent mutant powers and creates an evil doppelganger version of his favorite superhero group, the Fantastic Four! The FF battle their evil twins atop the Statue of Liberty! This issue begins an eleven-issue intergalactic odyssey for the Fantastic Four! Mister Fantastic and the Thing quickly make short work of the invading skrull. And now the FF must decide whether or not to journey to the Andromeda Galaxy!
