    The Story of The Shield (1936) is a coloring storybook published by The National Life and Accident Insurance Co. Includes pictures to be colored while the child can learn the intertesting history of the shield. The Sumarians were the first ancient people to use the shield. The shield was the most important defense to the ancient Greek warrior, to be defeated and to also lose his shield in battle was the ultimate disgrace. But to die and be brought home upon his shild was the greatest honor. The Greeks and Romans both used their shields and tactics to defeat enemies. In the middle ages the shield was used by knights in battle and jousting. The Shield has been recognized as a symbol of honor and bravery. 12 pages, color cover with black and white illustrations in the interior, 9-in x 6-in.
