There's been much discussion about the difference between Bruce Wayne and Batman, which is the mask and which is the true identity and the "split" between the two is displayed magnificently here. With Bruce agonizing over the fact that he apparently ordered a handgun and repressed the memory of doing so, "Batman" appears to him in the cave to offer some tough love. Robinson and Floyd absolutely nail this with "Batman" depicted as almost an avatar of night, formed out of shadows with no humanity visible towering over Bruce who more than ever resembles his 8 year old self, forever trapped in Crime Alley. Pencils, ink and correction fluid on DC Comics art board. 11 1/4" X 17".
