Tags: Dragonriders of Pern Book Series (part 10HC)Published 1989 by Del Rey Books.$5.99
Dragonriders of Pern: Book 11 - 1st printing. By Anne McCafferey. As long as the people of Pern could remember, the Holds had protected them from Thread, the deadly silver strands that fell from the sky and ravaged the land. In exchange for sanctuary in the huge stone fortresses, the people tithed to their Lord Holders, who in turn supported the Weyrs, whose dragons were Pern's greatest weapon against Thread. But not everyone on Pern was part of that system of mutual care and protection, particularly those who had been rendered holdless as punishment for wrongdoing. And there were some, like Jayge's trader clan, who simply preferred the freedom of the roads to the security of a hold. Others, like Aramina's family, had lost their holds through injustice and cruelty. For all the holdless, life was a constant struggle for survival. Then, from the ranks of the criminals and the disaffected, rose a band of renegades, led by the Lady Thella. No one was safe from Thella's depredations, and now her quarry was Aramina, reputed to have a telepathic link with dragons. But when Thella mistakenly vented her rage on Jayge's family, she made a dangerous mistake. For Jayge was bent on revenge . . . and he would never let her have the girl who heard dragons! Hardcover, 5 1/2-in. x 8-in., 306 pages, Text Only.

Tags: Star Wars New Jedi Order HC (part 21), Star WarsPublished Nov 2003 by Del Rey Books.$4.00
1st printing. By James Luceno. At long last, the New York Times bestselling series that launched the Star Wars saga into the next generation and into thrilling new territory reaches its spectacular finale. Side by side, Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, Leia Organa Solo, their children, and their comrades in the Galactic Alliance rally for their last stand against the enemy that threatens not only the galaxy, but the Force itself. The Galactic Alliance's hard-won success in countering the Yuuzhan Vong onslaught has proven all too brief—and the tide has turned once more to the invaders' advantage. Having overcome the sabotage strategies of the Jedi and their allies, the marauding aliens have pushed deeper into the galaxy and subjugated more worlds in their ruthless quest for domination. Coruscant has been remade into a Yuuzhan Vong stronghold. The remnants of the resistance are struggling to form a united front. Luke, Mara, and Jacen are missing in action. Clearly the stage is set for endgame. Now, as Han and Leia receive the chilling news that hundreds of high-ranking Galactic Alliance prisoners face slaughter in a sacrifice to the enemy's bloodthirsty gods, Luke and his team try desperately to convince the living world of Zonama Sekot to join the Jedi's final campaign against the Yuuzhan Vong. Yet even as they speak, a lone space station is all that stands between Alliance headquarters on Mon Calamari . . . and wave after wave of ferocious enemy forces waging their most decisive assault. At the same time, the Jedi's alliances throughout the galaxy are being tested—and the chances of victory jeopardized—by rogue factions determined to deploy the lethal weapon that will exterminate the Yuuzhan Vong . . . and perhaps countless other species. And among the Yuuzhan Vong themselves, the threat of revolt has reached a boiling point—as the oppressed underclass and powerful officials alike fear their Supreme Overlord's mad actions will provoke the wrath of the gods. Ultimately, for both the forces of invasion and resistance, too much has been sacrificed —and too much is at stake—to ever turn back. And now, nothing can stand in the way of seizing victory . . . or facing annihilation. Hardcover, 6 1/2-in. x 9-in., 530 pages, Text Only. NOTE: May or may NOT include bonus CD-ROM. Cover price $26.95.

She's on a first-name basis with Jean-Paul Sartre, the result of an English honors class assignment to keep an "existential diary." From Tina getting dumped by her smart-girl ally to a kiss on the mouth from a cute skateboarder, Neil Strumminger, Tina's Mouth answers the pressing question: Can an English honors assignment be one fifteen-year-old girl's path to enlightenment? 1st Printing - Written by Douglas Ellis. During the 1920's and 1930's the girlie pulps proliferated, but were sold "under the counter" to protect innocent eyes. Published with the belief that "sex sells", each month they sailed forth, their covers adorned with bewitching vixens in various states of undress, showing as much as the law would allow - and often daring to show more. Talented artists such as Enoch Bolles, Peter Driben, Earle Bergey, Norman Saunders, H.J. Ward and Zoe Mozert created a body of gorgeous pinup art that, unlike the later magazine and calendar pin-up art of the 1940's, has generally remained hidden until now. Hardcover, Horizontal Format, 12" x 9", 208 pages, full color. Cover price $40.00.
