Shah Foil Edition
Label #4354898014
Starts May 6 Homage Foil Edition Virgin Cover by Sajad Shah. Homage to the "Purple Rain" album cover. Written by Amanda Deibert. Art by Carlo Lauro. He is the terror that flaps in the night…He is the ferocious fowl who plucks the evil eye from the face of foul play…He is Darkwing Duck! Alongside his trusty sidekick Lauchpad McQuack, Darkwing hyper-vigilantly defends St. Canard from the dastardly, devilish demons who would wage wanton war! By night, our caped defender lurks in the shadows, striking fear (and maybe confusion?) in the heart of the criminal underworld…but by day, no one suspects that Darkwing is also mild-mannered Drake Mallard, a well-meaning father to his adorable adopted daughter, Gosalyn! Can Darkwing successfully navigate his two separate lives, all while looking incredibly cool and impossibly handsome? (Hint: Probably not, but…) You'll have to read to find out! 32 pages, full color.

Ends Apr 29 10:23 PM CST Bid History 4 bids Current Bid $5 Your Secret Max Bid If you'd like to bid, please log in or register. Deluxe edition. (W) Carl Barks, Byron Erickson, Rudy Salvagnini (A) Carl Barks, Daan Jippes, Giorgio Cavazzano (C) Don Rosa, Daan Jippes, Carl Barks It's the celebration of 58 years of Uncle Scrooge, with the milestone 400th issue and, much to Scrooge's chagrin, we're sparing no expense! Join us as we pay tribute to the perennial penny-pincher with an oversized 40-page issue stuffed with classic stories not to be missed - some published in the U.S. for the first time ever! First up, the incomparable Carl Barks appears as himself in this story, actually meeting Scrooge McDuck and clan in Duckburg! It's a heartwarming tribute to Scrooge's creator by modern master Giorgio Cavazzano in 'The Duck Man.' Next, watch in awe as the witch, Magica de Spell, finally gets her hands on Scrooge's Number One Dime in the classic story 'Obsession' - seeing print in the U.S. for the first time, with art by master artist Daan Jippes! Then delight at three, count 'em, three, one-page gags by the one and only Carl Barks himself that appeared in the very first issue of Uncle Scrooge - 'Osogood Silver Polish,' 'Coffee for Two,' and 'Soupline Eight.' Regular edition features a new, never-before-seen-in-the-U.S. cover by the legendary Don Rosa, and a brand new piece by the illustrious Daan Jippes. Deluxe edition cover features the amazing Carl Barks oil-painting 'Money Lake,' making it a must-have! Cover price $6.99.

Uncle Scrooge and Donald Duck (1965 Gold Key) 1 CGC 7.5
Paper: Off white to white
Label #4391056007
Starts May 6 # on cover: 30026-509. 25c. A 68-page giant size comic with non-slick paper covers reprinting a variety of Donald Duck and Scrooge McDuck stories including two long classic stories by the grand old Duck man, writer/artist Carl Barks: "Only A Poor Old Man," (from Four Color #386) in which Scrooge, Donald, and Huey, Dewey, and Louie move Scrooge's money to a new hiding place when the Beagle Boys start construction in the lot next to the money bin (This story has the famous Scrooge McDuck philosophy: "NO man is poor who can do what he likes to do once in a while! And I like to dive around in my money like a porpoise! And burrow through it like a gopher! And toss it up and let it hit me on the head!"), and the Four Color #29 reprint, "Donald Duck and the Mummy's Ring" in which a mysterious ring with three serpents on it lead Donald, Huey, Dewey, and Louie into a perilous adventure to Egypt. Issue also has three untitled Donald and Scrooge stories and two one-page gag strips. The gag strips are by Barks and story/art credits are unknown on the untitled stories. NOTE: This comic is very rare in the higher grades. This saddle-stitched (with three staples) reprints Four Color #386 (Uncle Scrooge #1) and the first story from Four Color #29. Rather than being printed on slick paper, the cover is newsprint. Gold Key briefly experimented with newsprint covers on several of their giant comics and Uncle Scrooge and Donald Duck #1 was one of them. As might be expected, the results were less than satisfactory, and the experiment was soon dropped. Cover price $0.25.
