"Waters of Darkness, River of Doom!", script by Gerry Conway, pencils by John Buscema (layouts) and Alfredo Alcala (finished art), inks by Alfredo Alcala; Ka-Zar rescues a young boy named Kem Horkus from pteordactyls and take him back to the hunting party led by his brother; Bar Horkus has spent 20 years pursuing a Tylosaurus they call The Behemoth that took his eye and arm in their first encounter; Bar's mad obsession has been gradually wearing on his men, but Ka-Zar agrees to help his quest for Kem's sake; The next day, the hunters set out on the river in two rafts, each equipped with a large ballista; When they find The Behemoth, Bar Horkus' bolt only wounds his prey, and Ghakar's raft turns away before the other ballista can fire; Refusing to retreat, Bar Horkus leads the rest of his men to their deaths against the angered Behemoth. "Brief Encounters," script by Brent Anderson (plot) and Bruce Jones (plot, script), pencils by Brent Anderson, inks by Carlos Garzon; Shanna is having delusions due to the effects of the mind-switching device; Ka-Zar has been stung and poisoned by a giant scorpion, and Shanna starts seeing a ghostly figure; The apparition reveals that he is an ancient Atlantean, and that Pangea is actually an outpost of Atlantis; The ghostly figure reveals himself to be a scientist named Dherk, he predicted the city's eventual sinking, and due to this he is banished to Pangea; Dherk body was placed in suspended animation but is able to appear as a projection, but he can temporarily make himself tangible; Dherk first saw Shanna while she was in the mind transfer device and from their he has fallen in love with her. "The Human Torch in Hot-Tempered Triumph!" Hostess snack cakes ad. 36 pgs., full color. Cover price $0.50.
