"Linda Nelson Finds Romance" with art by Jay Scott Pike - Linda's father Ben was a famous athlete and he raised Linda to excel in sports: "nobody loves a loser!" At college, Linda shows off by defeating all of her erstwhile boyfriends in sports. She loses a tennis match to Ronald and sprains her ankle; they become friends but when she recovers she humiliates him in a rematch. Ronald says her "win at all costs" attitude is obnoxious. Ben apologises for bringing up Linda "as a champ instead of a woman," and urges her to reconcile with Ronald. She does. Plus: "Goodbye Forever!" - Elaine is engaged to engineer Phil, but his job requires him to travel the world. Because her father had "itching feet" and abandoned his wife and child, Elaine is unsure about marriage to Phil. Elaine's father Jake returns and her mother Martha confesses that Jake always supported the family financially and begged them to join him, but Martha refused. Jake and Martha reconcile and Elaine tells Phil, "where you go, I'll go." Also: "The Girl He Really Loves!" with pencils by Morris Weiss - Beth and Kirk are happily married, but one day she sees a letter that Kathy, Kirk's former girlfriend, has written to him. Kirk and Kathy were engaged, but she jilted him and Kirk married Beth on the rebound. Now Beth fears Kirk will leave her, but when Kathy calls Kirk, he says "I wouldn't leave Beth for a thousand like you!" And: "No Man for Marion" with pencils by Al Hartley - Marion lives in a small town with her widowed, immigrant father and her sister Sue. A government construction project brings many new men to town, including Frank. Sue flirts with Frank and tells him Marion "doesnt like men," only cooking and housekeeping. However, Frank finds Sue "frivolous" and realises Marion is "a woman capable of great love." They embrace. (Note: This story continues next issue.)
