Painted cover by Clarence Doore. Stories and art by Mort Drucker, Dan De Carlo, Rudy Lapick, Vic Martin, and Mike Suchorsky. Neither a tie-in with the later toy line/cartoon nor a grim war comic, this first-gen GI Joe focused on lighthearted tales of military life. The Yardbirds, featuring Pvts. Windy and Whitey, was straight-up comedy of the Beetle Bailey/Sad Sack variety. Weepy gets a "Dear John" letter from Mabel, in a story with art by future MAD legend Mort Drucker. Pvts. Windy and Whitey are asked to escort the Sarge's gorgeous sister, in a story by future Archie legend Dan De Carlo. Joe tells an Americanized fairy tale to some Korean kids, in a fanciful tale with wacky art by Mike Suchorsky. Painted cover with bondage elements by Clarence Doore. Private Dopey: A Good Lesson; Go, Go, Goooooo!; Dear Gertrude; Adventures in Wonderland; The Yardbirds: The Secret Lover; The L Bomb; You'll Never Get Rich. 36 pages, Full Color. Cover price $0.10.
