The art, often uncredited, is exceptionally nice in this series. Tom Mix and his gang join the US armed forces when Axis forces begin shelling the West Coast. Taken captive aboard an Axis submarine, Tom devises a desperate and suicidal plan. Miserly Uncle Amos joins the air-raid patrol, but is outraged he must buy his own whistle, in a story with art by comics legend Charles Biro. Navy pilot Speed O'Dare goes undercover as a Nazi to rescue redheaded secret agent Karen Dale from behind enemy lines. The series takes a strong turn toward WWII home-front propaganda with material like What Every Young Patriot Should Know and craft column Jane's Page becoming Jane's Home Front Page. Plus activities pages and magic tricks.
