1st printing. By Mick Wall. The first significant fresh reporting on the legendary band in twenty years, built on interviews with all surviving band members and revealing a never-before-seen side of the genius and debauchery that defined their heyday. Veteran rock journalist Mick Wall unflinchingly tells the story of the band that pushed the envelope on both creativity and excess, even by rock ?n' roll standards. Led Zeppelin was the last great band of the 1960s and the first great band of the 1970s?and When Giants Walked the Earth is the full, enthralling story of Zep from the inside, written by a former confidante of both Jimmy Page and Robert Plant. Rich and revealing, it bores into not only the disaster, addiction and death that haunted the band but also into the real relationship between Page and Plant, including how it was influenced by Page's interest in the occult. Comprehensive and yet intimately detailed, When Giants Walked the Earth literally gets into the principals' heads to bring to life both an unforgettable band and an unrepeatable slice of rock history. Softcover, 504 pages, Text (with B&W and full color photos). Cover price $17.99.

1st printing. By Les Paul and Michael Cochran. Introduction by Sir Paul McCartney. At thirteen, he took the tone arm from his father's phonograph, jammed the heavy needle into the top of his five-dollar guitar, and filled it with Plaster of Paris to quell feedback. The guitar didn't survive, but his idea worked, essentially creating the first solid body electric guitar. Les Paul went on to alter countless guitars in his quest to create the perfect sound, making one breakthrough after another along the way. Non-stop experiments in his homemade recording studio led to the invention of sound-on-sound, multi-track recording, echo and a host of other discoveries that revolutionized the recording industry, while he and wife Mary Ford dominated early 1950s pop charts with a continual string of hits. Taken together, the enduring influence of his unique contributions to recording technology, instrument design and American popular music are unsurpassed. He truly is the man who changed the music, and now, Les Paul tells the whole story as only he could, in his own words. Hardcover, 9 1/2-in. x 11-in., 212 pages, full color. Cover price $75.00.

1st printing. By Marilyn Manson and Neil Strauss. From the world's most controversial rock star comes his shocking, confessional and revealing life story. In The Long Hard Road Out of Hell, Marilyn Manson candidly and vividly recounts his metamorphosis from a frightened Christian schoolboy into the most feared and revered celebrity in America. A cross-dressing grandfather, a sexually abusive neighbor, a brainwashing faith healer and a schoolteacher searching for satanic messages in rock songs are only a few of the characters who populate his bizarre childhood. From backstage to jail cells, from recording studios to emergency rooms, from the pit of despair to the top of the charts, The Long Hard Road Out of Hell chronicles Manson's rise to fame at the price of his humanity and his descent through the circles of Dante's Inferno: Lust, Violence and Treachery. His story is illustrated with dozens of previously unpublished photographs, and it features a behind-the-scenes account of his headline-grabbing Dead to the World Tour -- vilified, banned and protested by politicans, preachers and parents alike. In his 29 years, Manson has experienced more than most people have -- or would want to -- in a lifetime. Hardcover, 6 1/2-in. x 9 1/2-in., 276 pages, Text (with B&W and full Color Illustrations and pictures) Cover price $24.00.

Local magazine-sized comic book illustrated by Thom Enriquez and produced by Rock Comix for Chicago's WLUP radio station with parodies of popular celebrities, musicians, bands, and WLUP DJ's. Stories in this issue: 1) "The Evil Juanita Brian"; 2) Ronald-Ray-Gun vs. Jimmy Carter!"; 3) "Steve Dahl vs. Discoman (Dahl was one of the FM 98 DJs); "The Rock Band from Mars" (isn't that where most of them come from?); plus other stories. Also in the issue: An exclusive Keith Richard portraid; a Loops profile of Sky Daniels, and a "dynamite centerfold" with lettering influenced by the Mad comics. Full color, 36-pages, slick cover with newsprint interior.
Thom Enriquez only had a small handful of comics credits, primarily in Twisted Tales #9 and #10, both of which were published in 1984. However, he had a much more extensive career doing animation and live-action storyboard/character design credits, including the creature designs for the live-action Ghostbusters and Ghostbusters 2. His film industry and comics credits started in 1982, so this Disco Demolition book represents some of his earliest published material. Cover price $0.50. -

How did a very young messed up woman, a drug addict filled with doubt, become in a few years a planetary icon of rock music?
Janis Joplin went from the shadows to the blinding light of fame in only four records (the last one issued a month and a half after her tragic death). Thanks to a worldwide movement of emancipation which would consecrate for a long time the ideals and modes of alternative lifestyles from counterculture to the flower power generation, Janis, the ugly duckling, gave free rein to her impulses.
Joplin left for San Francisco, the epicenter of cultural innovation, where she lived a freedom of which she would hardly have dared to dream, abandoning herself to all impulses, overcoming without hesitation all the taboos of the time: bisexuality, alcohol, drugs, doing so not only with delight, but with the taste for excess which came naturally from her spontaneous character.

Story and art by Christopher.
Like the best rock n' roll bands, Love Song is four parts that harmonize the muddy and messy chords of life into a breathtaking resolution. United by a shared love of music, this collection of four "albums" is composed of a series of short stories, each running into the next like best cuts from your favorite records. And like a classic album, Love Song gets the joy and humor out of the way up front, letting the story wind its way into the dark and serious corners of adult life. Alternating between loud and quiet or hard and soft, this story will sink its hook into readers like a jingle or riff that just won't be easily forgotten.
Brings the sophisticated French graphic novel to the English language for the first time.
