Comics legend Joe Kubert won fans early in his career with his tales of Tor, a caveman struggling for survival in a world where humans co-exist with dinosaurs. Tor saves the cave-boys Tik and Tok from a pteranodon nest, earning the gratitude of their father the chieftain, but also the enmity of the corrupt shaman Valnu. In another story, Tor solves a prehistoric murder mystery. Tor must brave a tribe of ape-men to save a village from a deadly disease. Co-creators Joe Kubert and Norman Maurer put themselves into the comic to discuss the anti-comics hysteria of the 1950s, including the Kefauver hearings. Plus full-page dinosaur illustrations by Kubert. And an ad for the "Scholart Institute," one of Kubert's first attempts at comics art instruction, preceding the Joe Kubert School by two decades. Terrific sabre-tooth tiger cover by Kubert. Falling Fire!; Man-Beast!!!; Avenging Waters; History of Prehistoric Animals: Eryops, Dimetrodon; Danny Dreams.
