    • A fantastic villain origin page for the former Egyptian wizard now known as the immortal Sphinx! The Sphinx Reed and the rest of the FF are in dire straits while recovering from a battle with the Skrulls so they're forced to turn to the only being powerful enough to take on The Sphinx- Galactus! While the World-Eater and his herald make their way to the showdown, The Sphinx stands in front of the pyramids (likely place for him to be) and ponders on his origins. Some great panels here, especially the 5th panel which sees the villain begin to put his plan into motion with some Kirby Krackle! Signed by writer Marv Wolfman in bottom margin. Pencil and ink on Marvel Comics art board. 10 1/2" x 15 3/4". NOTE: Two lines of dialogue from this page "was once a face--" and "once called Xandar" are edits where the original lettering was cut out and the new lines placed in and secured with tape on the reverse.
