Stories and art by Frank Thorne and others. Adventures of legendary sci-fi hero Flash Gordon. Four Color (1942-1962 Dell 2nd Series) #424 was the first issue of this series in Dell's reckoning. Returning from interstellar space, Flash flies by the planet Mercury. But when he realizes that Mercury has been taken over by hostile forces, he sets out to stop the invasion. This issue features early art by Red Sonja's Frank Thorne, and another terrific Dell painted cover by an uncredited artist. Plus an article on rocket science, circa 1953. Final issue of the series. 32 pages, Full Color. 10c cover price, not numbered on cover. Cover price $0.10.
