While the battle rages on, Bruce Banner prepares for his wedding to Betty Ross and shares a moment with the recently returned Rick Jones! Fantastic work from Byrne here, especially in terrifying power of just the Hulk's hand as it breaches the Hulkbuster cockpit and in the facial expressions on Bruce as he reflects on his life with Betty. Fry and Ivy make a dynamite team here delivering some memorable panels, notably the second in which the entombed civilian has a very EC horror-esque face and in the following third panel with a great top-down shot of Moon Knight blastin' away! Much of Brian Michael Bendis' revolutionary run on Avengers centered around Luke Cage, an 'everyman' type of hero in comparison to many of the other heroes who quickly became the heart of the team and the fan favorite. Here, Tan and Banning perfectly capture the shock and heightened emotion that readers would feel along with Luke when learning that his newborn daughter had been kidnapped by Skrull posing as Jarvis during Secret Invasion. It's framed wonderfully with massive devastation visible in the background that still doesn't seem to compare to the pain on Luke's face, powerfully depicted through Banning's heavy inks. With the colonial powers on the warpath, an innocent slave is caught in the streets and beaten as Fortune, one of them men aiding Midnite, begins to rethink his allegiances. DOOM! A great page from this miniseries that 'remixed' the classic FF storyline where Doom stole the Power Cosmic from Silver Surfer. Here we see the souped up Doom confronting the FF in their hometown of New York. Having already dispatched the Human Torch, Doom faces the The Thing and simply...snaps his arm off. It's a simple scene which in many ways enhances the horror of what Doom does. Velluto and Geiger are a great team, filling the page with a liveliness and sense of motion. A beautiful, richly textured piece from the brothers Hampton that sadly did not see print! Likely intended for a story involving Poison Ivy, the Hamptons do a brilliant job of contrasting the iconic figure of the Batman, typically found in concrete jungles, with the all-consuming and ever cycling growth of plant life. Signed by the artists in lower right margin. Also included is a letter of authenticity from Bo Hampton indicating the provenance of the piece.
