Having just been been punched through an entire planet , by the mysterious and powerful ring-wielding Lord Malvolio, Hal Jordan happens upon a massive golden space station which inside houses a Lantern Battery- and a crowd of people who seem to worship Green Lanterns! Things must be looking up for old Hal, right? Right? A nice sci-fi page that delivers some well-drawn alien scenery and creature design as well as a great closeup of Hal. Just as the procedure is complete, Jenny is mistaken for one of the aliens and learns some harsh truths about what kind of war she's been fighting. A powerful splash page from the climactic issue of this miniseries which saw Aquaman leading a resistance against an invasion of Atlantis perpetrated by giant, genocidal jellyfish! As the Atlantean forces make a last ditch charge to break the siege on Poseidonis, they find themselves aided by a massive army of sea life which is revealed here to be commanded by Aquaman. Swan and Vey do a tremendous job depicting the vast effort expended by the King of Atlantis here, perched atop one of the city's tallest buildings! With mobs of protestors gathered outside, Commissioner Gordon and the GCPD are out to keep the peace- though they might need some assistance if say, an enhanced assassin from the future chooses this moment and place to travel back in time! A truly stunning action page with a great storytelling flow, rich in texture and as eye-catching as they come! Batman is finally hot on the tail of the motorcycle-riding terrorist who's been targeting Commissioner Gordon. Newell lays out this page beautifully with a fantastic head-on shot of Batman on his bike transitioning to a series of 'widescreen' panels that enlarge by the end of the page as the action continues. Newell's crosshating and expert deployment of white ink creates a perfect Gotham atmosphere, as if anything visible is emerging from blackness and along with the onomatopoeia give this page an amazing sense of texture that really pops in person. A great action page from this Lady Blackhawk spotlight story! Mourning the recent death of Big Barda in her own way (getting wasted at a bar, starting a fight, and then hijacking a cab in Metropolis to take her to California), Zinda and her unwilling chauffeur are suddenly attacked by False Face and White Star. The highlight here is the third panel with a great image of Lady Blackhawk in a stone cold western gunfighter pose just before she effortlessly hits the cab's gas tank, buying herself some time to escape.
