I Am the Guard (1960) is a promotional comic book detailing the history and purpose of the National Guard. Notable in that it contains Neal Adam's first published comic art (12 pages) using his now famous art style (he did do previous comic art, but it was for Archie in the Archie house style).

Initially intended to be nothing more than a Christmas Greeting Card project for old friends consisting of "just a few" pickings from the over 16,000 cartoons under Jay N. Darling's (aka "Ding" Darling) belt, the project eventually snowballed into a full fledged book containing hundreds of cartoons for old-timers to reminisce about. It's Time for Bryant (1960) was one of the first comic books that used a strong, pro-segregation stand to help a southern candidate get elected to statewide Produced by commercial comics as a promotional giveaway comic mailed to homes in Florida for C. Farris Bryant, who was elected governor of Florida. Bryant's campaign manager wrote a letter to Commercial Comics, citing the comic as "a primary factor in Bryant's election as governor."
