The Sub-Mariner leaves Latveria after having second thoughts about forming an alliance with Doctor Doom. Following Prince Namor's departure, the Latverian monarch realizes that he does in fact need help for his various plans of conquest and decides to reach out to the Prince of Atlantis. Meanwhile, the Sub-Mariner visits Hydro-base and is ambushed by a trio of villains: Tiger Shark, Doctor Dorcas, and Attuma! A super slugfest erupts on land and under the sea! Will the Avenging Son prevail? Flashback cameo appearances by the Fantastic Four, Daredevil, Quicksilver, Spider-Man, Thor, and the Hulk to recap Doctor Doom's previous battles through the years. (Notes: This issue features Bill Everett's last published artwork on the Sub-Mariner, the character he created in the golden age.
