The comic-book version of the 1955 TV series featuring legendary serial actor Buster Crabbe and his son, Cullen. Young Cuffy and Captain Gallant have adventures in the desert with the French Foreign Legion. This variant issue, sponsored by the Heinz food company, features a Heinz "57 Varieties" ad on the inside back cover, and a Junior Legionnaires Membership Certificate bearing the Heinz logo on the back cover. Fuzzy enters his beloved camel Josephine in a camel race, but his competitors want to sabotage her chances. Gallant and company set out to rescue a kidnapped American woman. Bandits target the supply caravan for the fortress. Cover and some art by future Marvel legend Don Heck. #614, 1954, 10c. Walt Disney's 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea Comic book adaptation of the Disney movie version of the classic Jules Verne story. No ads in comic. Entire issue is comic story from first page to back cover. Inside front cover features photos from the movie. Note that the photo of Captain Nemo battling the giant squid is not the movie version. This photo is from an early version of the battle with the squid but Walt Disney and the film's director thought the scene looked fake. So a better squid was made and the scene was redone. 36 pages, full color. Cover price $0.10.
