    Under the Hood Comics (1953) is a promotional comic distributed by the National Carbon Company/Union Carbide and Prestone Anti-Freeze. Popeye appears on page 3. Includes several full page, 1-panel gag stories by Golden Age great and Pulitzer-Prize nominated artist Gill Fox who also illustrated for Quality Comics (Torchy and Plastic Man). Each gag strip promotes Prestone products. In between the full pagers are smaller gags by Fox and by comic strip artist Dik Browne (creator of Hi and Lois, Hagar the Horrible), plus additional art by Stan Randall and Jack Markow. 16 pages, full color, standard comic book dimensions, no cover price.
