    Superman (1939 1st Series) 252

A great Neal Adams wrap-around classic cover featuring 21 super heroes in dynamic flight gets this beautiful 100-page giant off to a soaring start (see inside back cover for cover key/diagram and cool info about each hero). The lead off story, "Powerstone!" is a Superman reprint from Action #47 (April, 1942) with none other than Luthor as Superman's challenger. Luthor pops up again and faces death in the electric char in "When Titans Clash!" from Superman #17 (July-Aug. 1942). Next up is a great Doctor Fate reprint from More Fun Comics #57 (July, 1940), with Howard Sherman art. Other Golden Age reprints include Hawkman from Flash Comics #24 (Dec. 1942) with art by Sheldon Moldoff; a great Black Condor story from Crack Comics #18 (Nov., 1941) with Lou Fine's top-notch art; a Spectre reprint illustrated by Bernard Baily; a Starman story, "The Menace of the Invisible Raiders!" from Adventure #67 (Oct., 1941) by Jack Burnley; another great Lou Fine illustrated story, this time the Ray from Smash Comics #17 (Dec., 1940); then Superman wraps up the issue in "Superman's Greatest Feats!" from Superman #146 (July, 1961) with art by Al Plastino. 100 Pages, Full Color. Cover price $0.50.
