When movie cowboy Tom Mix's radio show hit it big, sponsor Ralston Purina offered Tom Mix Comics by mail for two boxtops of any Ralston cereal. The art, often uncredited, is exceptionally nice in this series. Tom's old enemy Doctor Goliath escapes custody and bombs Tom's ranch, on his way to stealing a Navy submarine. Miserly Uncle Amos declares war on his nephews' pet pigs, in a story with art by comics legend Charles Biro. Outlaws Slick and Bandy try to steal Burro Bill's mining claim, but Tom is one step ahead. Plus activities pages and magic tricks. And a page praising Tom Mix Comics as "crammed full of the 'real stuff,'" and emphasizing that they have no "trashy horror - nor lurid sensationalism." An early salvo in the comics culture wars. Old-Time Cowpuncher Hails Tom Mix Comics!; The Mystery of Submarine Z-3; The Fumble Family with Amos Q. Snood; My Favorite Magic Tricks; Sure as Shootin'; Great Straight Shooters: George Washington; Jane's Page; Jane of Dream Castle; Stubby and His Straight Shooter Pals; Hunting Bow and Quiver and Arrows; The Ride for Life! 32 pages, Full Color.
