    Stories and art by Don Newcombe and Charles Dexter. Fawcett followed up its Jackie Robinson comics with a one-shot based on the life of another pioneering Black baseball great, Don Newcombe. Newcombe joins the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1949 as a pitcher, and becomes one of the first Black All-Stars in 1949. The third Black pitcher to join the major leagues, Newcombe is later named Rookie of the Year. Includes a short message written by Newcombe himself.
