Encouraged by her mother, Lucy finally does date boys, but finds "no happiness or satisfaction with any of them," and never dates a boy more than once. Finally, she meets Walt, who won't give up, and love blooms. Plus: "One Man Too Many" - Sally dates Tom, who runs a small charter airline, but he's very busy with his business. She turns her attentions to Tom's pilot Andy instead. However, when Andy refuses to fly medical supplies to a disaster area, Tom fires him and goes himself. Sally realises Tom is the better of the two men. Also: "Female" with inks by George Klein - Raised by her widowed father to succeed in "a mans world," Louise excels at sports and gets her degree in engineering. She then becomes a partner in her father's factory. Louise falls for plant doctor Ronald, but fears she'll disappoint her father if she gets married. However, when a little girl is injured in the plant, Louise realises she'll never have a child of her own if she puts business before romance. She calls her father and resigns, and will marry Ronald. And: "Come Back, My Love" with pencils by Jay Scott Pike - Karen is loved by aspiring poet Quentin and garage owner Tom, but can't decide between them. Quentin moves to New York and asks Karen to wait for him. Months go by and Karen hears nothing: she tells Tom she'll wait forever, or until she learns Quentin doesn't love her. Quentin shows up and is now "rude, self-centered, and a boor!" and claims he doesn't love Karen. It turns out Quentin is a failure and didn't want Karen to know, because he still loves her. Tom unselfishly convinced him to return, but Quentin put on an act so she'd drop him. Karen realises Tom's the one she loves. Issue also has 2-page text story "Best Choice." 32 pages, full color. "That Old Feeling" with art by Jerry Robinson - Barbara is married to Fred, but can't forget her first boyfriend Gary. When Fred suggests a visit to her hometown, Barbara is afraid what will happen if she sees Gary. By the time they arrive, she has convinced herself that she's bored with Fred and will run off with Gary if he asks. However, it turns out "the years and my imagination had made him something he never had been!" Gary is cheap, common, ignorant and unstable. Barbara decides Fred was the right choice after all. Plus: "Love Story" written by Stan Lee with pencils by Carmine Infantino - Nurse Jane is called to attend to wealthy Curtis, injured during a polo match. He needs constant care if he is to walk again, but his fiancee Stella pays little attention to him. When the diagnosis is that Curtis won't be able to walk, Stella breaks up with him and criticises Jane. Curtis literally rises to her defense, standing up. He's cured! Jane and Curtis kiss. Also: "Infatuation" with inks by Christopher Rule - Although Doris is going steady with Bob, she becomes infatuated with bandleader Keith and they are constantly together until his band has to move on to its next booking. Keith tells Doris "I'm not the marrying kind!" She decides to return to Bob, but since she had done this to him before, he no longer trusts her. Doris can only hope Bob will change his mind, some day. And: "Too Many Loves" with art by Mike Sekowsky and Christopher Rule - Carol falls in love with a succession of men, each with a particular trait that attracts her, but none have everything she desires. She finally realises she loves her longtime friend and neighbour Frank, "an ordinary guy," and always has. Issue also has 2-page text story "From Beans to Millions." 32 pages, full color. Paul eventually becomes governor, but their marriage is loveless. Jane visits a carnival, alone, and sees Larry with his wife and two children. He's content with his life, while for Jane it's "too late for everything but tears!" Plus: "A Dime a Dance" with art by John Forte - Sheila comes from an impoverished background and dislikes her job in a dime-a-dance joint. When wealthy Jimmy and some friends come in, she recognises him and decides he's her ticket out of this life. They date and Jimmy falls for her. Jimmy's older brother Keith tries to dissuade Sheila, even offers to pay her off, but she refuses. Sheila's actually in love with Keith, and when she tears up the check he offers, he realises he loves her too. Also: "Too Much in Love" with art by Sam Citron - Alice and Joe are co-workers and in love. Bob, nephew of their boss, tells Alice he'll put in a good word for Joe if she dates him. She agrees, but Joe spoils it by punching Bob. Money is missing from the office safe and Bob tries to frame Joe for the crime, but finally confesses that he did it out of jealousy. Joe is given a promotion and now he can marry Alice. And: "Shall I Marry Him?" with art by Jay Scott Pike - Kitty and Joe are in love, but she thinks he's self-conscious because she's taller than he is. It doesn't matter to her, because she loves him, but she's afraid he'll never ask her to be his wife. Bill finally asks and she accepts his proposal. They argue and Frank decides to marry someone else. Alice quits her job in a mill and is hired as a receptionist, going from blue-collar to white-collar. She and her boss Steve fall in love, marry, and have 2 children. Also: "Love 'Em and Leave 'Em!" by Stan Lee and Werner Roth - Don is an admitted womanizer, who dates women and then dumps them when another comes along. He and Jane date for a time, but Don returns to his old promiscuous ways. Don's roommate Steve thinks Jane is being mistreated, and eventually marries her. Too late, Don realises that he actually loved Jane and lost her due to his own behaviour. And: "The Reason He Left Me!" with art by Mike Sekowsky and Christopher Rule - Helen loves football player Buck, but thinks newcomer Rene is angling to steal him away. Helen discovers Rene is involved with gamblers who are pressuring Buck to quit the team before the big game, so they can win a lot of money. Helen recruits some male students to break up the gambling ring, and Buck can now play football with a clear conscience. At college, Linda shows off by defeating all of her erstwhile boyfriends in sports. She loses a tennis match to Ronald and sprains her ankle; they become friends but when she recovers she humiliates him in a rematch. Ronald says her "win at all costs" attitude is obnoxious. Ben apologises for bringing up Linda "as a champ instead of a woman," and urges her to reconcile with Ronald. She does. Plus: "Goodbye Forever!" - Elaine is engaged to engineer Phil, but his job requires him to travel the world. Because her father had "itching feet" and abandoned his wife and child, Elaine is unsure about marriage to Phil. Elaine's father Jake returns and her mother Martha confesses that Jake always supported the family financially and begged them to join him, but Martha refused. Jake and Martha reconcile and Elaine tells Phil, "where you go, I'll go." Also: "The Girl He Really Loves!" with pencils by Morris Weiss - Beth and Kirk are happily married, but one day she sees a letter that Kathy, Kirk's former girlfriend, has written to him. Kirk and Kathy were engaged, but she jilted him and Kirk married Beth on the rebound. Now Beth fears Kirk will leave her, but when Kathy calls Kirk, he says "I wouldn't leave Beth for a thousand like you!" And: "No Man for Marion" with pencils by Al Hartley - Marion lives in a small town with her widowed, immigrant father and her sister Sue. A government construction project brings many new men to town, including Frank. Sue flirts with Frank and tells him Marion "doesnt like men," only cooking and housekeeping. However, Frank finds Sue "frivolous" and realises Marion is "a woman capable of great love." They embrace. (Note: This story continues next issue.) Newman and Jay Scott Pike - Elaine and Eddie are engaged but he's drafted into the Army and sent to Korea. After one date with another man, Elaine resolves to wait for Eddie, eschewing any social life for 2 years. Eddie finally returns and they wed: "The wait was worth it!" Plus: "Tony's Kiss" - Gwen is engaged to Billy, but he sees her kissing playboy Tony at a party. Gwen insists Tony kissed her against her will, and was put up to it by the jealous Lil. Tony meets Gwen later and kisses her again, causing Billy and Gwen to break up. Gwen admits to her mother that she loves Tony, but he's left town. However, Tony writes to say he really does love Gwen, and they are reunited. Also: "A Shoulder to Lean On" - Betty meets Jim while on a ski vacation and they become close friends. However, he tells her "I never plan to marry!" because he was an orphan and grew up independent and unwilling to depend on anyone else. When Betty and Jim are trapped by a blizzard and he goes snow-blind, he has to rely on Betty. This makes Jim realise that he loves Betty and is willing to share his life with her. And: "Marion Gets Married!" with pencils by Al Hartley - Marion marries engineer Frank and they move to his family mansion in New York. Marion is at first overwhelmed by her new life, but when Frank returns from a business trip he discovers she's undergone a glamorous makeover and has been throwing parties. Marion explains she did this to try and fit in with his society friends, but Frank says he prefers "the sweet, simple girl I married." They reconcile and will travel the world together, wherever Frank's job takes him. (Note: This story is continued from the previous issue.)
