"Coming Together!", script by Steve Skeates, art by Jim Aparo; A poet reads a poem which contains an incantation in a coffee house which brings three demons together to possess a sculpture; The sculpture menaces a waitress and a big bruiser type who is sweet on her manages to destroy it, but unfortunately for him, she is more interested in the college professor who was tracking the demons and destroys the poet's poem to prevent more carnage. "An Axe to Grind," script by Steve Skeates, art by Alfredo Alcala; A half-wit chops up his brother with an ax after he sees him talking to a girl he fancies; He doesn't believe that his brother was just asking her to be more polite to him, and so buries the pieces of the body out in the field. 36 Pages, Full Color. "The Ghost-Writer," script by Bill Riley, art by Gerry Talaoc; A writer who has been using another man to ghost write for him decides to murder him because he doesn't need him anymore; He pumps several bullets into him, but the man doesn't die, and he admits that he has been dead several years; He is a literal ghost writer. 36 Pages, Full Color. "And in Death There Is No Escape!", script by John Albano, art by Alex Nino; An actor has dealings with a sorcerer to grant him immortality; In order to gain enough money to produce his own play, he desires to marry a wealthy woman who loves him but her father refuses; He gets the woman to hire a maid whom he has instructed to poison the old man, but the actor's plans unravel when he becomes trapped in a fire which hideously burns him; He ends up as a carnival freak praying for the death that will not come. 36 Pages, Full Color. "Possessed!", script by Jack Oleck, art by Gerry Talaoc; A man desires a witch's spell book as he thinks it can provide wealth for his family after she was executed and buried, so he digs it up but it is written in Latin and is useless to him; His wife is worried that the evil spirit may possess someone and seek revenge, and when one of the witch's judges is found murdered, the man begins to suspect that his wife has been possessed. 36 Pages, Full Color. "The Land Beyond the Styx!", script by Michael Fleisher, art by Gerry Talaoc; A scientist develops a method of staying dead for ten minutes and then being revived by an assistant in order to discover the secrets of afterlife; When the experiment starts he finds himself being taken across the river Styx to Hell; He attempts to avoid demons for ten minutes until he is revived but he doesn't understand why his assistant hasn't thrown the switch. 36 Pages, Full Color. "The Case of the Demon Spawn!", script by Gerry Conway (as Gerard Conway), art by Luis Dominguez; Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson (not the names used by the writer) are targeted by a pack of vampires because of their skepticism of the supernatural; They manage to escape, but not before Holmes is bitten by one of them. "The Demon and the Rock Star!", script by Michael Fleisher and Russell Carley (art continuity), art by Gerry Talaoc; A has-been rock star makes a bargain with a demon to get back on top again, but the price he must pay is three sacrifices indicated by who he gives the demon's jewel to; The first two victims are a former manager and rival rock band, but his third intended victim is a girl he desires but who rejects him; She designs his stage outfits, so when he sends her the jewel, she sews it into his clothes and the demon comes for him. 36 Pages, Full Color. "Remembered Dead," script by George Kashdan, art by Alex Niño; The lonely watchman of the wax museum takes home a figure of Lizzie Borden when the owner tells him that he's going to melt it down due to lack of public interest; The watchman meets a single female neighbor and he becomes convinced that the statue is jealous. "Every Man My Killer!", script by George Kashdan, pencils by Nardo Cruz, inks by E. R. Cruz; A man who can't remember his name is being hunted and does not understand what he has done to make everyone he encounters want to kill him; When he is destroyed at the end of the story it is revealed that he is a robot who has gone rogue and then lost its memory. 36 Pages, Full Color. "Like Father, Like Son," script by Jack Oleck, art by Nestor Redondo; A man makes a deal with a witch to supply a maiden in exchange for gold; He asks the witch if there is any way to avoid damnation when dealing with the Devil and she tells him that he can escape Hell if he sacrifices his own son; He brings the young girl to the coven and they tell him that he can return for her the following morning; When he comes back he finds that the events of the evening have destroyed her sanity. "Puglyon's Crypt," script by David Michelinie, art by Ramona Fradon; A man with a fear of premature burial kicks some gypsy squatters out of his warehouse telling them to find somewhere else to stay for the winter; Since his father used to punish him by locking him in the family crypt overnight, he decides to have his casket built with a ventilation pipe and a door which opens from the inside out; After the specifications are complete, his vehicle gets into an accident wherein a small piece of window glass in his brain causes a temporary paralysis long enough for him to be considered dead and interred in his casket. 36 Pages, Full Color. "Don't Cry for Uncle Malcolm," script by Gerry Boudreau, art by Alex Niño; A man's uncle dies and he and his sister drive up to attend the funeral, but the locals are hostile and refuse to give direction; When they finally locate the house, they realize that the uncle was a voodoo practitioner who used his powers to keep the locals in thrall. 2 Abel's Fables cartoon pages by Sergio Aragonés. "Turnabout," script by Steve Skeates (as Steve Skeats), art by Quico Redondo; A woman murders her husband and dumps the body in the truck of her car, then drives to a river to dispose of it; When she looks in the trunk she is startled to see that the body is missing; The man's ghost appears, and she backs away, striking her head on the trunk. "Nasty Little Man," script by Jack Oleck, art by Ramona Fradon; A foul-tempered man manages to capture a leprechaun and extract from him his heart's desire, a stone house and to never be hungry again; At first it seems as though he gains his wish when he marries a local girl, but after he secretly murders his wife's father in order to be lord of the estate, the dead man's lawyer informs him that he was not so well off as the killer had assumed and their house will have to be sold. 36 Pages, Full Color. "The Centaur," script by Sam Glanzman and Martin Pasko, art by Sam Glanzman; Three hunters split up in the woods in order to look for a deer when one of them encounters a centaur; The centaur offers to take the man through a light portal to a paradise and the man agrees. "Grave Business," script by David Michelinie, art by Ruben Yandoc (as Rubeny); A widow tells the funeral director that her dead husband had all of his money placed inside his casket and offers to share it with him if he unseals the casket; At first the man refuses, but after the man is buried, he decides to dig it up; The widow covers him with a gun when he finishes, but he flings dirt in her face and then kills her with the shovel. "There He Is Again!", script by Don Kaar, art by Alfredo Alcala; Ushers are startled to see a boy who sneaks into the theater fall backwards into the movie screen and become part of the horror movie after they surround him. 36 Pages, Full Color. "A Connecticut Ice Cream Man in King Arthur's Court," script by Michael Fleisher and Russ Carley (script continuity), art by Alex Toth; An ice cream man finds himself transported to King Arthur's court by a thick fog and gets in Arthur's good graces by offering him ice cream; It doesn't take long before he thinks of dumping rat poison into the ice cream to polish off Arthur and his nobles and take over; Merlin overhears him scheming and goes to the king with the rat poison as proof; The king is in a quandary as he wishes to execute the ice cream man for treason but only he can provide ice cream to the banquet Arthur has promised his nobles. "Never Rouse a Vampire!", script by George Kashdan, art by Jay Albister; A carnival barker gets the idea that he can drum up more business if he exhibits a vampire so he has one of his showgirls chat up a creepy-looking carnival drifter into agreeing to play the part; The dupe thinks the showgirl likes him and she tells him that the barker is saving up the money for the two of them to get married. "Make Believe," script by Jack Oleck, art by Ruben Yandoc (as Rubeny); A crippled boy makes a centaur friend on a Greek isle and tells his nurse and father about their adventures; At first the adults are angry that they believe the child is lying to them about not needing his crutches in the magic circle, but after he persists in his tales, the father contacts a psychologist who recommends that the boy be taken from the isle. 36 Pages, Full Color. Alcala; An abusive father and his crippled son are hiking in the mountains when they are visited by Death in the guise of a shepherd; The boy takes a liking to Death and Death leads him to a meadow where he can play with other children and doesn't need his crutch to walk. "Instant Re-Kill!", script by Steve Skeates, art by Frank Robbins; An insane actor brutally murders his co-star in order to get the jilted lover scene just right and can't understand why arresting officers aren't convinced that it's just a movie. 36 Pages, Full Color. "The Haunter and the Haunted," script by David Michelinie, art by Quico Redondo; A nine year old boy is dared by his older brother to stay overnight in a supposedly haunted house and his brother and friend to try scare him away; They succeed, but when they leave through the cellar and go home, the younger boy is nowhere to be found; Eventually, they find him sitting on the porch of the haunted house. "The Long Run!", script by Steve Skeates, art by Lee Marrs. "On Borrowed Time," script by Jack Oleck, art by Alex Nino; A thief steals a battery powered watch which can transport a person one week into the future by setting it one minute forward; He uses the watch to commit crimes until he gets the idea to steal a large number of diamonds and set the watch five years into the future so that he can fence them without difficulty. "Weird Wanda," script by David Michelinie, art by Ernie Chan (as Ernie Chua); The business partner of a skating rink owner attempts to get out of a gambling debt by embezzling money but is caught by the other partner; The thief kills him and disposes of the body; The killer leaves a note for the wife saying that her husband has run off with another woman and the wife becomes mentally unbalanced. 36 Pages, Full Color. "A Test of Innocence!", script by Mike Pellowski, pencils by Mike Sekowsky, inks by Bill Draut; A man steals emeralds from an Amazon native tribe, but when he attempts to raft down river with the hollowed-out melon he's stashed the emeralds in, it rolls off the raft into the river; He reaches into the river for the melon but when he withdraws his hand it has been stripped of flesh by Piranhas. "Death on Cue!", script by David Michelinie and Russ Carley, art by Ruben Yandoc (as Rubeny); A pool hall bum steals a magic cue from an old man and beats him to death with it; He plays well until he has only one more guy to beat and then he will be champion but the ghost of the dead man shows up before the match; The ghost challenges him to a game, and even though the killer is using the magic cue, he plays terrible like he used to play. 36 Pages, Full Color. "No Way to Run a Railroad!", script by Michael Fleisher and Russ Carley, art by Leopoldo Duranona; A retired train engineer who has built his own train set by hand invites a hobo to stay with him and help run the trains after the hobo helps him with a technical problem; After a toy maker offers a hundred thousand for the set and is refused, the hobo murders the old man and attempts to hide the body so that he can claim the money. "Freak-Out!", script by George Kashdan, art by Alex Nino; A man who hides his landmine disfigurement under a mask visits a billionaire who stuffs freaks as a hobby; He offers his guest a contract which stipulates his heirs will receive a million dollars when he dies and in exchange the billionaire gets his corpse to add to his collection. "Somebody's Listening," script by John Albano, pencils by Joe Orlando, inks by Bill Draut; A man's child is dying and he tells the doctor that he does not believe in God; He sees someone going into his shed and accosts the man as he believes him to be a thief. "The Lottery," script by Michael Fleisher and Russ Carley, art by Ernie Chan (as Ernie Chua); A stranger from out of town gets on the wrong train to go to a business meeting and is told that he must wait until the following day for another train; He sees workman setting up a fifty thousand dollar lottery booth in the center of town and asks the ticket seller if he can buy a ticket; At first the ticket seller doesn't want to sell him one and tells him that it's a local thing, but he is very persuasive and the ticket seller gives in; The man thinks with the rotten luck he's had today he could use some good luck; When the little girl draws his number he's ecstatic that he won but doesn't quite understand why they ask for his family's address and just won't give him the check; He is knocked over the head and wakes up bound in the cemetery. 36 Pages, Full Color. "Portraits of Death," script by Jack Oleck, pencils by Ernie Chan (as Ernie Chua), inks by Bill Draut; A painter begins to paint pictures that foretell the future which frightens his model because she knows that she and his art dealer have been swindling him; The art dealer plots to kill the painter, and after it's done, the two of them return to the dead man's studio where the girl sees a painting that the man created before he was killed and she is depicted as having a knife protruding from her chest; She snatches a knife from the table with the intention of destroying the painting so it can't come true, but the art dealer attempts to warn her that it is an experimental painting being done on metal. 36 Pages, Full Color.
